Naples authorities on Friday ordered police to be boosted in the southern city ahead of the expected arrival of organised groups of northern Italian 'maranza' (street tough gangsta) hooligans for Saturday's top of the table clash between Napoli and Inter.
All local police units have been placed on high alert and security around the Maradona Stadium has been raised, official sources said.
With 12 games to go in Serie A, reigning champions Inter are a point ahead of Napoli, at 57 to 56, after a long catch-up.
Atalanta, third on 54, play second-bottom Venezia at home in Bergamo.
