According to the daily
Kathimerini, Greece and the British Museum are reportedly close
to reaching an agreement for the reunification of the Parthenon
Marbles, with a resolution expected as early as 2025.
Confidential negotiations have yielded significant progress, but
a formal agreement has yet to be reached. Key discussions
revolve around permanently storing the sculptures at Athens'
Acropolis Museum while also providing major Greek artefacts for
extended exhibitions in London. However, discussions indicate
that not all of the pieces removed by Lord Elgin will be
returned. Only those essential to reuniting the Parthenon's
artistic and historical narrative are expected to return to
Athens, the daily said.
