The mayor of the Umbria city of Terni
Stefano Bandecchi told ANSA on Monday that his party Popular
Alternative's experience with the centre-right coalition was
over.
The mayor said he felt "independent and free" to continue his
political career with his party Popular Alternative (Alternativa
Popolare, AP).
The accord was announced in September ahead of regional
elections in Umbria, as well as in Liguria and Emilia-Romagna.
However the November elections in Umbria, which had been a
leftist bulwark until the centre-right won in 2019, were won by
centre-left candidate Stefania Proietti, the former PD mayor of
Assisi, who beat the conservative incumbent Donatella Tesei.
