Pope Leo XIV, a keen tennis player,
on Monday agreed to play a charity tennis match to fund
missionary work but quipped that he would not play Italian world
number one Jannik Sinner.
At the end of his first meeting with journalists, Pope Leo XIV
was pressed by a journalist to organize a charity tennis match
for the pontifical missionary works, knowing his passion for
this sport.
"Sure, that's fine," the Pontiff replied.
"I'll bring Agassi," insisted the journalist jokingly.
Leo replied "just don't bring Sinner," playing on the double
entendre both because the Italian is number one in the world and
because his surname in English means "a sinner."
