"The region is increasingly focused on the Austrian market to expand incoming tourism further. After the 'fuori salone' event held yesterday at the Niederoesterreich Palace in Vienna for tour operators, journalists, and influencers by PromoturismoFvg, today Friuli Venezia Giulia's participation in the Ferien-Messe Wien kicks off with the presence of 21 regional operators, including consortia, business networks, agencies, and hotels," said the FVG regional councilor for Productive Activities and Tourism, Sergio Emidio Bini, during his visit to the FVG stand at the Ferien-Messe in Vienna, which runs until January 19.
Bini pointed out that the Austrian market is experiencing significant growth: "In the aftermath of Covid, the number of Austrian tourists in the region increased by 12.9%, reaching 1.8 million in 2024. The interests are also changing: it's no longer just about the beach, but there is also attention to small towns, localities, and food and wine tourism. Increasingly, Austrians are choosing Fvg for snow holidays as well.
This evidence results from the data from Tarvisio, which ranks among the top 10 most popular destinations and saw a 12.3% increase in Austrian visitors last winter compared to the pre-Covid period." The councilor also underlined that "three-quarters of Austrians regularly travel several times a year, and more than half choose international destinations. The economic crisis pushes Austrians to opt for early bookings, making reservations for their main holiday between January and March. Therefore, our presence at the fair is crucial."
