Fiorentina failed to make the
Conference League final for the third consecutive year on
Thursday when a 2-2 draw with Betis after extra time at home saw
them exit at the semi-final stage 4-3 on aggregate.
The Florence side had hauled themselves back into contention
after Antony's free-kick had given the Spanish side a two-goal
aggregate advantage, levelling the tie thanks to headers by
Robin Gosens.
But their hopes of finally winning the tournament after falling
at the last hurdle twice were dashed by Abde Ezzalzouli's goal
in the first period of extra time.
