Premier Giorgia Meloni visited Pope
Francis in the Rome hospital where he is being treated for
double pneumonia Wednesday and later told reporters they had
laughed and joked and she had found him very reactive.
"I am very happy to have found him alert and responsive. We
joked as always. He has not lost his proverbial sense of humor,"
said the premier after visiting the 88-year-old Argentine
pontiff at Gemelli Hospital, according to her office.
Meloni conveyed to the pope her government's and the nation's
best wishes for a prompt recovery, Palazzo Chigi said.
