Inter CEO Beppe Marotta said
Monday that the club may have suffered irreparable damage by the
controversial decision by the VAR to award Fiorentina a penalty
deep into stoppage time in Sunday's 3-3 draw in Florence.
Jordan Veretout earned a draw for Fiorentina by converting
the spot-kick awarded for handball by Inter's Danilo D'Ambrosio,
who was penalized even though the ball appeared to hit his chest
before his shoulder or upper arm.
"We suffered major harm and let's hope that it is not
irreparable for the season," Marotta said.
"It would be very serious.
"I'm still astounded and disappointed.
"The system should be revised to make it better.
"The damage took place at the game's epilogue. It would have
been very different if it had been in the first half with lots
of time left to play".
