Jailed anarchist leader Alfredo
Cospito is finding it hard to walk and slipped in the shower
breaking his nose Wednesday night as his condition continues to
deteriorate amid a three-month-long hunger strike against his
unprecedented mafia like prison regime, his lawyer said
Thursday.
The attorney, Flavio Rossi Albertini, said Cospito may have
slipped because he fainted and his condition is "slowly getting
worse" after he has lost more than 40 kg on the hunger strike
that beg an in mid-October against the 41 bis regime normally
only applied to jailed mafiosi.
Cospito is now using a wheelchair, Rossi Albertini said.
The Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI) leader, 55, has been
sliding ever deeper into poor health because of his protest,
said the lawyer.
"All his (blood) values are falling and there is a risk of
cerebral oedema", said Rossi Albertini.
Cospito's doctor Angelica Milia said Wednesday that if his
current slide continues he will be dead "by April 20".
