Three-time ex-premier and media mogul
Silvio Berlusconi has denied plans to wed his 32-year-old
fiancée of two years and MP in his centre-right Forza Italia
(FI) party, Marta Fascina.
Conservative daily Libero reported Tuesday that the 85-year-old
Mediaset owner was set to marry Fascina, who is 53 years his
junior.
"The relationship of love, esteem and respect that ties me to Ms
Marta Fascina is so deep and solid that there is no need to
formalize it with a marriage," Berlusconi said.
The rumour had been doing the rounds of parliament and had not
been denied by Berlusconi's entourage.
The couple were most recently seen in public kissing at a Serie
B match involving Berlusconi's Monza on Saturday, and on a
lakeside walk at Lecco on Sunday.
Fascina, a Calabrian literature graduate at Rome's Sapienza
University, would have been the third wife of the conservative
leader after Carla Elvira Dall'Oglio, whom he married in 1965
and by whom he has two children, both media executives, and
actress Veronica Lario (born Miriam Bartolini), by whom he had
another three and who divorced him after accusing him of
pursuing young women.
