United States Vice President JD Vance
is set to meet Premier Giorgia Meloni in Rome after arriving in
the Italian capital on Friday.
President Donald Trump's number two landed at the city's
Ciampino airport at 7:44 with his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance,
and his children.
Vance will meet Meloni at the premier's office at Palazzo Chigi.
While in Rome he will also meet Vatican Secretary of State
Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
The Vance-Meloni encounter takes place after Meloni's positive
talks with Trump at the White House on Thursday which spurred
hopes a deal can be reached between the US and the EU over
Washington's tariffs.
