The Italian pavilion at Expo Dubai
2020 was lit up Tuesday to salute European Parliament President
David Sassoli who has died at the age of 65.
"Grazie David Sassoli" was the illuminated message.
"We are getting very many messages of sympathy from all the
general commissioners of the Expo, a thing that has struck us
very much," said Italy's Commissioner General Paolo Glisenti.
"We decided to remember David Sassoli on the facade of the
Pavilion because he was a great pro-European and an Italian with
a global vision. And in a global event like Expo, we thought it
was right to remember him for all our visitors who pass in front
of our facade today, as a sign of esteem, respect and
recognition for all that he did".
