On the occasion of the month of Europe, the European ambassadors accredited in Bolivia gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Robert Schuman's Declaration and the 30th anniversary of the EU Delegation's presence in La Paz.
In his welcoming speech, the Head of the European Delegation emphasised how the EU has proven over time to be a reliable partner, with the largest cooperation programme in Bolivia, amounting to EUR 1600 million for the three-year period 2024-26. The day ended at the Cinemateca in La Paz, with the screening of the Italian film 'Io sto bene' by Domenico Rotunno as part of the 'Eurocine 2025' review.
The Italian Ambassador, Fabio Messineo, introduced the film, which deals with the theme of the migration of Italians to Europe, comparing two generations and differentiating the problems of integration that characterised the generation of the 1960s and 1970s with the motivations and methods that drive young people today to go abroad.
During the month, numerous events are planned throughout the country organised by the European Representations. In particular, the Italian Embassy will participate on 17 May, together with the local section of the Dante Alighieri, in the White Night of Museums in La Paz, while on the 28th the second edition of the concert 'Serenade to the Republic' will be held in the Gardens of the Italian Residence, during which the best-known arias from our operatic tradition will be performed together with pieces from famous soundtracks composed by Morricone, Piovani and Nino Rota.
The celebration will be repeated in a fortnight' time in the capital Sucre, on the occasion of Bolivia's Bicentenary of Independence celebrations.
