The Consul General of Italy in São Paulo, Domenico Fornara, said that Rome has 'every interest in working with Latin America', especially in a context of change at the international level.
The statement was made today during a press conference in São Paulo, during which Fornara stressed that 2024 has been intense in relations between Brazil and Italy, with the visits of Presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the G7 in Puglia, Sergio Mattarella to the South American country, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to the G20 in Rio de Janeiro and the trips of numerous ministerial delegations from both countries.
"There are a number of common interests and a huge space to exploit to work together on a commercial level," the consul said, adding that "with all the changes at the international level, I believe Italy has every interest in always working with Latin America."
Finally, Fornara stressed the importance of COP30, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, which will be held in Belem, the capital of the Brazilian state of Pará, in November 2025, another opportunity to deepen relations between Italy and Brazil.
