The Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, participated in Zagreb in the presentation ceremony of the "Centre of Excellence in Maritime Robotics and Technologies for Sustainable Blue Economy-MARBLE". The initiative is worth EUR 30 million, of which EUR 15 million is funded by the EU's Horizon Europe Programme. It is being implemented by the University of Zagreb and other Croatian partners (including the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth and the Ruđer Bošković Institute), in cooperation with the National Research Council (NRC) and the University of Science and Technology of Norway. The aim of the Centre is to promote sustainable growth and the blue economy, making Croatia a leading country in the EU in the field of maritime robotics.
The Centre will be based in Zagreb and will also operate in other areas of Croatia, with pilot sites in Rijeka and Šibenik. The event was attended, among others, by the Minister of Science, Education and Youth, Radovan Fuchs, and for the CNR by Eng. Alessandro Iafrati, Director of the Institute of Marine Engineering (INM).
