Recognition "for the work done in consolidating Generali as one of the leading players in the insurance market in Spain", in which the Italian group has been active for 190 years: this was the motivation for awarding the insurance company's chairman, Andrea Sironi, with the XXVII Tiepolo prize, presented annually in Madrid to prominent figures from the Italian-Iberian business world.
Together with the Milanese executive, the jury also awarded Andrés Arizkorreta, president of the Spanish group Caf (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) 'for his role in the modernisation and cohesion of the transport sector in the main Italian regions' and his commitment to 'cleaner and more sustainable mobility'. The presentation of the Tiepolo, jointly established by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain (Ccis) and the Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales (Ceoe), took place at the Italian Embassy in Madrid, in the presence of institutional and business representatives.
"It is an honour to receive this award, which recognises Generali's important contribution to Spanish society and economy. It is a historic market for us, currently the fourth most important," said Sironi, also expressing "solidarity with Spain" and the people for the devastating tragedy in Valencia and other provinces". For his part, Arizkorreta claimed that receiving the Tiepolo award 'is a source of pride' for himself and the entire Caf group, 'as it is an acknowledgement of the company's contribution to bilateral trade and business relations'.
"Important bilateral trade and investments are the fruit of long-standing relations that cultivate mutual and lasting entrepreneurial trust," said Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, adding that "in 2023 there were record figures" in terms of trade between the two countries, amounting to almost EUR 66 billion. Also present were the president of the Ccis, Marco Pizzi, and Ceoe's number one, Antonio Garamendi. The latter, together with Buccino himself, announced the launch of the 'Empresa Joven' (Young Enterprise Award), awarded in this first edition to Riccardo Di Stefano, president of Confindustria's Young Entrepreneurs, and Fermín Albaladejo, president of the Confederación Española de Asociaciones de Jóvenes Empresarios (Ceaje).
