The cabinet on Thursday approved the appointment of former COVID 19 pandemic vaccination campaign czar and army General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo as extraordinary commissioner for the reconstruction of Emilia-Romagna and parts of Tuscany and the March after deadly and devastating floods in Many left at least 15 dead and caused billions of euros in damage to property, crops and infrastructure, sources have said.
Pursuant to a recent decree introducing urgent provisions for
the reconstruction of the territories affected by the floods,
the commissioner will remain in office until June 30, 2024.
Potenza-born Figliuolo, 61, commander of the Inter-Forces Summit
Operations Command, served as extraordinary commissioner for the
Covid-19 emergency from March 2021 to March 2022.
