The Confindustria research centre
sees a "slowdown in Italy's growth at the beginning of 2024",
the experts at the industrial employers group said Saturday.
In the monthly 'flash' economic analysis by the economists of
via dell'Astronomia, "the Italian economy is supported by low
inflation, rising household confidence and growing services,
while industry seems to be stabilising.
"Various, however, are the negative factors: the brake on trade
flows in the Suez Canal continues, oil (price) continues to
increase, the central bank rate cut is postponed again, and yet
again, credit to businesses remains in decline".
In this scenario, Confindustria said, "a weak GDP is expected in
the first quarter of 2024, and industry is convalescent".
