Matteo Berrettini has conquered the
quarter-finals of the Miami Open.
The 28-year-old Roman cruised into the quarter-finals with a 6-3
7-6(9/7) victory over 26-year-old Alex De Minaur (No.11) in the
ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
The world No.30, his highest ranking since 2022, will next face
27-year-old US player Taylor Fritz (No.4) in the quarter-finals.
The win marks Berrettini's first quarter-finals game at a
Masters 1000 tournament since Madrid 2021.
It will also be the first time he has reached the last eight in
Miami.
Meanwhile Novak Djokovic on Tuesday beat Italy's Lorenzo Musetti
6-2, 6-2.
Musetti, the 15th seed, got off to a flying start to take a 2-0
lead in the first set before losing the next nine games to
Djokovic, who has clinched the Miami Open on six occasions.
However, the Serbian champion has not featured in the quarters
since his last victory in Florida in 2016.
And Italy's Jasmine Paolini moved into the semi-finals of the
Miami Open on Tuesday with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Poland's
Madga Linette.
Paolini, beaten in the finals at Wimbledon and the French Open
last year, has become the first Italian to make it to the last
four in Miami.
