Pope Francis should be able to
recover his ability to speak properly after a month fighting
pneumonia in a relatively short time, his medical team at Rome's
Gemelli Hospital said Saturday.
"It is difficult to say when it will take for the Pope to regain
his speech, but looking at the improvements that have occurred,
recovery is possible in a short time", said Dr. Luigi Carbone,
the Pope's medical representative in the Vatican during the
press briefing.
"When a patient has an infection of this type and has been in
such a serious condition, further progress is at home," added
Prof. Sergio Alfieri, head of the Gemelli team.
"The hospital is the worst place to continue convalescence
because it is the place where infections are most likely to
occur".
