One person was reported missing on
Sunday afternoon after an avalanche hit a group of skiers on the
Forcella Giau in the Dolomites, in the area of San Vito di
Cadore near Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The avalanche hit three people while a fourth skier immediately
started searching for his companions and called rescue services,
according to preliminary information.
Two skiers were rescued from under the snow, including one who
was conscious and another who was reported to be in critical
condition.
Search operations are ongoing to track down the third person.
The Alpine rescue services from San Vito di Cadore, Cortina
d'Ampezzo, Alleghe-Val Fiorentina, Livinallongo are taking part
in the operation.
