The Italian federation of metalworking
companies Federmeccanica on Thursday said output by Italy's
metalworking firms in the fourth quarter of 2024 plunged by 5.6%
with overall annual production sinking by 4.2%.
According to the data published in the federation's 173rd
edition of the survey on metal working and mechatronics
production, the sector underperformed with respect to the
overall industrial sector that recorded a 2.2% drop in the
fourth trimester and a 2.5% decrease over the entire year.
Car production had a particularly negative impact on the
sector's results with a 21.9% annual drop.
