Japan is an important country on the
international scenario and a friend of Italy, Italian President
Sergio Mattarella said on Thursday in Kyoto, the second leg of
his visit to the country.
After Kyoto, the president will travel to Hiroshima on Saturday
for the last stage of his mission to Japan.
Japan is "important in the international dimension" and most of
all "a friend of Italy", noted Mattarella.
The two countries share a "growing friendship" that will further
evolve in the near future, said the head of State during a
meeting in Kyoto with a delegation of Italians residing in the
area.
The president also spoke about the "precious cooperation"
between Rome and Tokyo, "also because it is based on
cohabitation values, the healthiest and most responsible
existing right now in the international community and on which
Japan and Italy are in perfect agreement".
