An Italian coast guard vessel departed
from the Albanian port of Shengjin on Saturday morning with 43
asylum seekers on board.
The asylum seekers had been taken to Albania last Tuesday by
Italian Navy vessel Cassiopea.
The group of 43, who are from Bangladesh and Egypt, have to
return to Italy after Rome appeals judges on Friday night did
not validate their detention at Italian-run fast-track
processing centres in Albania.
They are expected to reach the Puglia port city at 8:30 pm on
Saturday.
They are part of the third group of asylum seekers whose
detention at Italian-run processing centres in Albania has not
been validated by Italian courts.
