Some 8 million Italians are set to
take a skiing holiday in the first trimester of this year,
according to a survey published on Saturday by the tourism
observatory of retailers' confederation Confcommercio, in
cooperation with polling institute SWG.
Winter holiday reservations have slightly decreased compared to
the first quarter of 2024 mainly due to last-minute bookings, a
consolidated trend over the past few years, Confcommercio noted.
Most winter vacations booked in the first quarter of the year
are of a maximum of four to five days with only 10% booking a
one-week holiday.
The average cost per person is of 380 euros, said the survey.
Overall, eight in 10 Italians polled said they preferred Italy
to skiing resorts abroad with the most popular destinations
located in Trentino Alto Adige, followed by Valle d'Aosta and
Piedmont.
Lombardy has lost popularity, the study said.
Meanwhile, a reported 9% of those polled chose a destination
abroad, mainly in Switzerland, Austria and France, while 7% of
those interviewed said they were planning skiing holidays both
in Italy and abroad - up 4% on 2024.
