A mental health professional and two police officers were placed under investigation Monday for allegedly failing to act to prevent the murder of a woman by her mentally ill brother in Genoa on May 1.
The woman doctor and the agents, who have not been named, were allegedly remiss in not taking action to prevent Alice Scagni being killed by her brother Alberto, sources said.
They will possibly be charged with failing to carry out their duties and failing to report a crime, legal sources said.
"The news that finally there are three suspects on the serious omissions that have manifested themselves in this dramatic story cannot fail to please me," said family lawyer - said the lawyer Fabio Anselmo.
"It is a first step towards ascertaining the truth. I hope that the complaint we made for murder as a result of another crime is registered and, that is, of those omissions".
