Italian actress Sabrina Ferilli is to
get the special David di Donatello award for 2022, the
organisers of the Italian Oscars said Friday.
She will get the award at a ceremony on May 3 at Cinecittà
broadcast live by state TV Rai.
The president of the Italian cinema academy and the awards
board, Piera Detassis, said the 57-year-old Ferilli was "an icon
of sunny and sensual beauty, so ironic that she said she wanted
to 'be Totò with tits', never contented herself with being an
extremely popular sex symbol, and is an actress of brilliant
talent who moves between cinema, television in the theatrical
tradition of the Garineis and Giovanninis.
"Working with auteurs like Marco Ferreri, the Taviani brothers
and Paolo Genovese, she also has been able, with rare
discernment, to shy away from the excessive limelight,
maintaining a profile of civic commitment and a filmography
which, alongside some enjoyable divertissement in Christmas
comic hits, shines with great titles and intelligent comedies
that have become bywords, from La bella vita, Ferie d'agosto and
Tutta la vita davanti of Paolo Virzì to Io e lei of Maria Sole
Tognazzi in which she plays the loving companion of Margherita
Buy.
"It is a Special David for her commitment and beauty, her
non-rhetorical smile and her praise of the non-ephemeral
lightness that can turn in an instant to the mournful gaze of
Ramona, the striptease artiste of La grande bellezza, her
masterpiece as as actress".
