Junior Economy Minister Enrico
Zanetti said Tuesday that his reformist SC party is forming a
single group with the centre-right ALA party in the Lower House.
Up to now 16 MPs have signed up to be part of the new group. ALA
is led by Denis Verdini, a former close aid of Silvio
Berlusconi's who recently split from the ex-premier's Forza
Italia. Although formally in the opposition, ALA has lent
crucial backing to the government on several occasions on votes
on its reforms.
