An Italian national has been killed in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, local paper The Daily Star cited police as saying Monday. He was killed in the city's diplomatic district by armed men on a motorcycle, the paper reported. The 50-year-old victim, an aid worker named as Cesare Tavella, was reportedly wearing jogging gear.
The Islamic State (ISIS) fundamentalist militia has claimed responsibility for the murder, tweeted intelligence and counter-terrorism expert Rita Katz, who runs the SITE organization. Italian authorities are verifying the claim.
