Migrant expulsions from Italy were up
1,300 or 15-20% last year compared to 2022, Interior Minister
Matteo Piantedosi said Monday.
"For the third year in a row there has been an increase of
between 15 and 20% in expulsions. They are still not enough, we
should do more, but compared to 2022, last year there were 1,300
more expulsions, 1,300 potential factors of insecurity for our
citizens. We should do more", he said opening the conference of
Italian prefects and police chiefs on the guidelines for
policies to combat irregular immigration, currently underway at
the Higher School of Interior Administration.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is also present.
