The AW149 military helicopter
produced for the Polish army by the Italian Leonardo group,
which owns the PZL Świdnik factory, located near Lublin, in
south-eastern Poland, has flown for the first time. The first
model of the helicopter was built in Vergiate, Lombardy, but all
production will be moved to the Polish plant. This was reported
today in the Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper. This is a test flight of
one of the 32 modern multi-role helicopters ordered by the
Polish government and scheduled to be delivered by 2029.
According to the newspaper, Gianpiero Cutillo, manager of
Leonardo Helicopters, stated that the completion of the AW149
contract exemplifies excellent cooperation between Poland and
Italy.
