Siot, the Transalpine Pipeline company, reported that it unloaded 40.2 million tons of crude oil from 423 ships in 2024. This achievement is notable as it represents the company's best performance since 2019, before the pandemic.
This success was reached even with Pontile 1 at the Trieste Marine Terminal being out of service for an extended period due to its undergoing reinforcement and consolidation work. This project was awarded to Fincantieri Infrastructure Opere Marittime and has a budget of 44.4 million euros.
Over the past year, Siot achieved record investments exceeding 37.5 million euros and saw an increase in employment levels. Additionally, the arrival of the 22,000th ship at the Marine Terminal was celebrated, with over 1.7 billion tons of crude oil unloaded since operations began.
Siot also highlighted that 2024 marked the year of strategic projects like Tal Plus, funded by the Czech company Mero,to ensureg energy security and independence for the Czech Republic from oil supplied through the Russian Druzhba pipeline. As part of this project, the company replaced pump-motor systems at the pumping stations in Trieste, Cavazzo, and Paluzza, successfully updating 9 out of 12 pumps. In December, capacity tests were completed using the newly installed equipment, confirming the ability to transport 50.2 million tons of crude oil annually.
"We are proud to have achieved our best operational performance in a year when we also became stable producers of electricity and thermal energy, thanks to high-efficiency cogenerators," said Alessio Lilli, President and General Manager of the Tal Group. "We remain committed to providing excellent service and contributing toCentral Europe's economic growth and energy securitye."
