monks, and faithful, I express my condolences on His Holiness
Francis's passing to eternity," said Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Head
of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. "We thank the Lord for
the gift of his life and service, for his numerous efforts to
end the war in Ukraine, his constant appeals for a just peace,
and his paternal closeness to the 'tormented' Ukrainian people."
