Eurostat reports that the
eurozone's unemployment rate was 6.2% in March, unchanged from
February, while the EU's rate was also stable at 5.8%. Italy is
below the Eurozone average, at 6% (it was 5.9% in February).
Eleven countries have a higher rate, among them France (7.3%).
Other large countries include Germany at 3.5%, Spain at 10.9%,
and Poland at 2.7%. Youth unemployment rose to 14.5% in the EU
(from 14.6%) and 14.2% in the Eurozone (from 14.3%). In Italy,
it has risen to 19% (from 17.3%), ranking seventh in the EU.
Female unemployment in the Eurozone remained stable at 6.4%,
while in the EU it stands at 6%.
