French President Emmanuel Macron
and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will sign a friendship
treaty today in Nancy, eastern France, to strengthen their
partnership, demonstrating Poland's growing weight in Europe as
a key country on Russia's eastern border. The treaty, which is
intended to "change things," particularly in the realm of
security and defence, will be signed by the two leaders at
12:45, as Tusk confirmed. "The objective," as stated by the
French presidency, "is to fortify our bilateral partnership and
consecrate Franco-Polish friendship in the areas of energy,
infrastructure, defence, and security, among other sectors."
