The United States has imposed new
sanctions on individuals, officials, companies, and
organizations from the Republika Srpska (RS), the predominantly
Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose leader, Milorad
Dodik, has already faced repeated restrictions by the U.S. and
the U.K., mainly due to his growing secessionist ambitions and
destabilizing policies.
Among those newly sanctioned is Sinisa Karan, husband of
Gorica Dodik, daughter of Milorad Dodik, and president of RS.
The new sanctions, imposed by the U.S. Department of the
Treasury, are justified by violations ranging from
non-compliance with the Dayton Agreement to the destabilization
of the state, war crimes, the glorification and support of war
criminals, terrorism, organized crime, and corruption.
Those sanctioned face restrictions or a ban on trading,
traveling to the U.S., and conducting financial transactions.
