A 21-year-old man of North African
origin was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of beating and raping a
14-year-old Peruvian girl he met on social media, police said.
The man was allegedly caught red-handed in Busto Arsizio, in the
province of Varese, as he attacked the girl in the street.
The girl's screams were heard by a resident who alerted 112 and
when the officers of a local police patrol arrived on the scene,
in an abandoned area behind the train station, the 21-year-old -
now in prison awaiting questioning to validate the attack - was
still "using violence" against the victim, police said.
At the hospital, doctors gave the alleged victim a 50-day
prognosis.
