A fan of Silvio Berlusconi arrived on
Friday morning at the Milan hospital where the former premier
and media tycoon is receiving intensive care treatment for
chronic leukemia and a lung infection, having traveled overnight
by train from the province of Lecce in the southernmost tip of
Italy's "heel".
31-year-old Marco Macrì positioned himself outside the hospital
with a banner reading 'Forza Silvio, the Salento (region) is
with you!"
"I came here on purpose," Macrì told ANSA.
"In certain situations there is no thought required, especially
when it's a friend - and he is a friend like no other.
"You really feel that push from the heart: it's not politics and
it's not soccer," continued the fan, adding that he had left his
family to be there.
"I would visit him even if he were at the North Pole because
there is no one like Silvio. He has always been a point of
reference," Macrì concluded.
