Texas Senator Ted Cruz has won
the Iowa Republican caucus, beating primary frontrunner Donald
Trump. Cruz took 28% of the vote, winning eight delegates,
compared to 24% for Trump (seven delegates) and 23% for Marco
Rubio (seven delegates). Ben Carson got three delegates after
winning 9% of the vote, while Rand Paul and Jeb Bush earned one
delegate each. British daily The Guardian said that Hillary
Clinton had edged Bernie Sanders in the Democrat contest, with
49.89% of the votes, while her primary rival got 49.54%.
