Pope Francis on Thursday lamented the
number of silent armed massacres that occur unbeknown to many.
"Today, as in Herod's time, the plots of evil, which oppose the
divine light, move in the shadow of hypocrisy and concealment:
how many armed massacres take place in a deafening silence,
unbeknownst to so many!" said Francis on X, formerly Twitter, on
the Catholic Feast of the Holy Innocents commemorating the
slaughter in Bethlehem of male children aged 2 years or under on
the order of King Herod in the attempt to kill the newborn
Jesus.
