Fiorentina's dream of winning this season's Conference League was dashed on Wednesday when they lost 2-1 to West Ham United in Wednesday's final in Prague.
Said Benrahma put West Ham in front in the 62nd minute by
converting a penalty conceded for handball by Fiorentina's
Cristiano Biraghi, who had his head bandaged after being hit by
an object thrown by English supporters in the first half.
Giacomo Bonaventura levelled for the Italian side just five
minutes later, finding the smallest of gaps in the defence to
fire into the far corner.
But West Ham's Jarrod Bowen latched on to a defence-splitting
pass in the 90th minute and produced a cool finish to win the
trophy for his team.
It is the second final Fiorentina have lost this season after
their went down 2-1 to Inter in the Italian Cup last month.
It comes after AS Roma lost the Europa League final to Sevilla
on penalties last week.
Italian football still has a chance of bagging a European trophy
this season though, with Inter facing Manchester City in the
Champions League final on Saturday.
