The Italian Soccer Federation's
(FIGC) sporting prosecutor on Monday requested that Juventus be
handed an 11-point penalty in Serie A over allegations of
irregularities in the Turin giants' balance sheets in recent
years, with inflated values allegedly given to the value of some
transfer dealings.
The prosecutor also requested that seven former Juve officials,
including former star player and executive Pavel Nedved, be
banned from involvement in the sport for eight months.
If the FIGC tribunal upholds the request, Juve will drop from
second in Serie A with 69 points to eighth with 58 points, so
out of the top four and the qualification zone for next season's
Champions League.
Juve had been handed a 15-point penalty over the alleged
irregularities earlier this season but an Italian Olympic
Committee tribunal recently overturned that over some
technicalities and told the FIGC court to re-examine the case.
Juve's share price dropped by 4.2% to 0.27 euros after the
sporting prosecutor's request was tabled.
