Graziano Pelle was on Friday
dropped from Italy's World Cup qualifying tie in Macedonia
Sunday for allegedly insulting coach Giampiero Ventura when he
was substituted during the Azzurri's 1-1 draw with Spain in a
World Cup qualifier in Turin Thursday night.
The big Shandong Luneng striker stalked off the pitch and
refused Ventura's attempted handshake after being replaced by
Lazio's Ciro Immobile shortly after Italy went one down.
Pelle's apology earlier Friday - "I messed up again, I'm
sorry to everyone" - was of no avail.
"Certain values must be respected," the Italian Soccer
Federation said.
