Andrey Amador of Costa Rica on
Friday took the leader's pink jersey on the 13th stage of the
Giro d'Italia, a 170-km run from Palmanova to Cividale del
Friuli in the foothills of the Dolomites.
He is the first Costa Rican to wear pink.
Amador is 26" ahead of former leader Bob Jungels of
Luxembourg.
Third, at 41", is pre-race favourite Vincenzo Nibali of
Italy, who leapfrogged No.1 rival Alejandro Valverde thanks to a
four-second bonus for coming third.
Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk is level with Valverde in
fourth, 43" behind the pink jersey.
The stage was won after a 35-km breakaway by Spain's Mikel
Nieve.
Gianni Visconti came second, 43 seconds behind, and Nibali
third at 1'17".
