European Affairs Minister Tommaso Foti
hit back on Wednesday after French Industry Minister Marc
Ferracci criticized Premier Giorgia Meloni's visit to Washington
to meet United States President Donald Trump next week, saying
it risks jeopardizing EU unity in the face of US tariffs.
"Regarding French Industry Minister Marc Ferracci's statements,
I would like to ask a question to our French friends, who are so
worried about the Meloni-Trump meeting," Foti said.
"Why is it that when President Macron goes to Washington,
everything seems to be fine, but when Meloni goes, it isn't?
"Respect and reciprocity, dear French friends.
"There are no first-class nations and second-class nations".
