The first transfers of migrants from
Italy to the Gjader center in Albania are expected Thursday,
converted by an Italian government decree from a processing
centre as a migrant deterrent into an ordinary detention center
for repatriation or CPR, Albanian port sources told ANSA
Wednesday.
The courts stymied the detention of the first three batches of
migrants set to be processed under the original innovative but
controversial scheme.
The sources said that a ship with 15 migrants on board,
departing from Brindisi, should reach the port of Shengjin in
the afternoon, around 3 pm.
In the evening, around 7 pm, the second ship is expected, with
another 25 migrants.
In all, there will be about forty migrants, equal to the current
capacity of the CPR set up inside the Gjader camp.
