President Sergio Mattarella said
Generation Z was the hope of Italy, adding that stereotypes
about the attitudes and conduct of young people are frequently
well off the mark during a visit to Vercelli for the
inauguration of the academic year of the University of Eastern
Piedmont (Università del Piemonte Orientale).
The head of State said that student representatives told him
that Generation Z, people born between the mid-to-late 1990s and
the early 2010s, were "seen as disoriented, as inert, estranged
from reality.
"I honestly don't know where these assessments of the new
generation, which are so out of touch with reality, so wrong,
could come from," Mattarella said. "Personally, I find
confirmation that this generation is grounds for hope for our
country".
