Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly
Schlein on Friday presented her new team at the helm of the
opposition, centre-left group and said it was set to create
plenty of headaches for Premier Giorgia Meloni.
The 37-year-old became the PD's first woman leader February when
she upset Emilia Romagna Governor Stefano Bonaccini in the
party's primaries.
"It's a solid, well-prepared, high-quality team, especially when
compared to that of the government," Schlein said.
"It will be a problem for Meloni.
"It took us quite a long time (to select the team), but now
we'll do a great job".
Schlein's executive includes Alessandro Alfieri as reform chief,
Giuseppe Provenzano covering foreign affairs, Marta Bonafoni as
party secretariat coordinator, Marco Furfaro head of political
initiatives, Maria Cecilia Guerra in charge of labour and
Pierfrancesco Majorino taking over as chief of migration
policies.
