A headline in Libero newspaper
saying Matteo Renzi should be "shot" in order to KO him was a
bad joke rather than a threat, the ex-premier and Democratic
Party (PD) leader said Wednesday.
"I thank everyone for their solidarity but I don't feel
threatened by (editor) Vittorio Feltri," said Renzi.
"I wouldn't exaggerate, I don't consider it a threat, it's
one of those provocations that you journalists sometimes make.
It's not a problem for me".
The PD leader said "given that everyone can write the
headlines and articles they want, common sense and balance must
be restored by everyone."
He said "I consider Libero's headline a quip, perhaps not all
that good".
