Public employees are more prone to
absenteeism than private-sector workers, Civil Service
Undersecretary Angelo Rughetti told Radio Città Futura in an
interview Thursday.
A case in point is civil servants taking sick days on
Fridays or Mondays.
Measures such as mandatory home visits by doctors to verify
whether or not the employee is actually ill are in place,
Rughetti said.
"We need to ramp up the organization it takes to apply
them," he said. "We're working on some pilot programs".
